Cannabidiol and genetic epilepsies: a discovery bringing new possibilities
On September 9th, Latin American Epilepsy Day was celebrated, with a focus on a recent scientific discovery regarding the use of purified cannabidiol in treating monogenic epilepsies. A study involving 266 patients over five years in Argentina, Italy, Spain, and Denmark revealed that cannabidiol not only decreases seizure frequency but also improves behavior, sleep, and neurodevelopment. Experts have confirmed the safety and effectiveness of cannabidiol in various genetic epilepsies, indicating its potential use in precision medicine.
