Microsoft to open a chill Xbox app store on Android

Microsoft is making it easier for Android users to buy games for their Xbox account with the Xbox app. While Game Pass games still can’t be played on mobile devices without streaming, this could be the start of a real app store on Android.

### The Plan
Sarah Bond, President of Xbox, tweeted that players will be able to purchase Xbox games through the app starting in November. She mentioned a federal judge’s ruling that “opened up” Google’s mobile store in the US.

In August, Microsoft announced they were working on a browser-based mobile store that was making progress. It’s uncertain if this new app will replace that store.

For now, users have to go to the company’s website to buy games or a Game Pass subscription. The Xbox app on Android doesn’t let you download or play purchased games, but you can stream Game Pass Ultimate. Unlike Steam and PlayStation Store, which allow direct purchases through their mobile apps without the Play Store billing system.

The court ruling said Google can’t force third-party app stores to use its billing system anymore. Google is appealing the decision and asking for a pause in the changes while the appeal is settled. But they only have until November 3 to make the necessary changes.
