Buying a humanoid robot in China is becoming more like acquiring a high-end car. The opening of Robot Mall in Beijing marks a milestone that combines sales, demonstrations, and technical service, with the goal of turning curiosity about these machines into real contracts and daily use.
The 4S concept reaches humanoid robots
In China, the 4S model – sales, spare parts, service, and customer surveys – has been key in the automotive sector. Now, Robot Mall translates it to robotics: a space where you can see, know their prices, receive training, and keep them operational thanks to a complete after-sales service.
Located in the Beijing E-Town technology district, it opened on August 8 coinciding with the World Robot Conference. The center occupies 4,000 square meters distributed over four floors:
– Ground floor: robot demonstrations for industry and health, with models like Unitree G1, UBTECH Walker S, or Tiangong.
– Second level: interactive areas with brain-machine interfaces and robotic arms.
– Third floor: diagnosis, spare parts replacement, and remote maintenance.
– Fourth floor: negotiation rooms for B2B agreements.
Robots for all tastes (and budgets)
At Robot Mall, there are seven major categories: medical, industrial, companion, bionic, integrated, bipedal, and wheeled. Among the demonstrations are humanoids that dispense traditional Chinese medicine, arms that paint or serve drinks, and systems that prepare coffee or move boxes in pharmacies.
Not all models are ready for immediate use, but many can be purchased or hired. Prices range from around 260 euros for simple models to several hundred thousand for advanced systems, with installation and service included.
The last “S” of this format – survey – implies collecting usage data and customer opinions so that manufacturers can refine their products and develop future versions.
A strategic move
In 2024, China produced 556,000 industrial robots and accounted for two-thirds of robotics patents worldwide. The opening of Robot Mall is part of the drive of a sector that in Yizhuang already generates over 10 billion yuan annually, with the aim of putting the and diversifying their applications.
What comes next
By November 2025, the version 2.0 of Robot Mall is scheduled, with more manufacturers, new models, and more realistic usage scenarios. The goal: to establish Yizhuang as the capital of robotics and make buying a robot as common an experience as purchasing a car.
