In a Louisiana house garden: an ancient Roman tombstone
This year, a couple from New Orleans discovered an 1,800-year-old Roman tombstone in their backyard. The tombstone belonged to a sailor named Sextus Congenius Verus and is set to be repatriated to Civitavecchia, Italy. The mystery of how the tombstone ended up in Louisiana was solved when it was found out that it had been brought back by an American soldier stationed in Italy during World War II.
