On August 3, 2025, the Kamchatka Peninsula witnessed the awakening of the Krasheninnikov volcano, which had been dormant for 600 to 700 years. The eruption sent a column of ash up to six kilometers high, visible from various points in the Kronotsky Reserve and recorded by astonished hikers.
