Chuck E. Cheese is saying goodbye to the iconic Make Believe Band of Munch, the animatronic robots that have been entertaining and terrifying children for decades. The franchise is set to shut down the bands in all but two locations across the United States, with only tribute bands in Los Angeles and Nanuet, New York, surviving.
End of an Era
Fans of the band have until the end of 2024 to enjoy the classic performances of Chuck E. Cheese and Helen Henny, along with the rest of the gang. After that, the animatronic band will be replaced by modern entertainment features, such as digital dance floors and trampoline gyms, as part of a major transformation by CEO David McKillips.

The pandemic has forced Chuck E. Cheese to adapt, with many locations temporarily closing and the company filing for bankruptcy protection. Now, the focus is on bringing the arcade chain into the modern era, which means saying goodbye to the creepy but nostalgic robots in favor of screens and interactive activities.
While some may miss the animatronic band, it seems that modern children are more interested in digital experiences like video games. Chuck E. Cheese locations are already seeing changes, with some removing the animatronic band in favor of more contemporary activities.
The legacy of Chuck E. Cheese’s animatronic band will live on in the memories of those who grew up with them, as the robots are phased out in favor of a new era of entertainment at the popular family entertainment chain.
