Walmart is selling a house that resembles an iPhone for $17,000

Have you seen what Walmart is now offering on their website for $15,900 or less? It’s a tiny house that you can assemble with a couple of friends in just a few hours. Over at Walmart, you can find the “Apple Cabin,” a house shaped like an iPhone. This mini dwelling is so small, it barely has enough space for a MacBook!

But before you start envisioning your dream of homeownership, remember that a permanent home is not that simple. Cheryl Industries, based in Long Island, New York, specializes in DIY homes. They offer shelters that resemble closets, cargo containers, and even an expandable house for $36,000. The Apple Cabin is originally priced at $24,000, but Walmart sells it for $17,400. The iPhone-shaped tiny house costs $11,800 and is just slightly larger than a garden shed. It has room for a bed and a toilet, but no shower.

Delivery Made Easy

Walmart offers delivery by truck, but you’ll need a forklift to unload it. Cheryl Industries suggests hiring a crane, especially for the larger house which weighs around 3,500 kg and is almost 6 meters long. The 6-meter Apple Cabin weighs over 2,000 kg. Luckily, Walmart provides free shipping and the house comes ready without the need to build any walls.

Both houses are manufactured in China, as stated by Cheryl Industries. To assemble the 6 x 6-meter house, you simply need to set up the walls and secure everything in place with screws and anchors. The house even comes with a pre-installed toilet, but you’ll have to handle the water pipes on your own. Walmart recommends building the house on a concrete base for stability.

If you’ve watched those Instagram videos of people converting buses into tiny homes, you might be intrigued by the idea of owning a small house at a relatively low price. These Walmart houses can be taken apart and transported like other prefabricated homes. Just keep in mind the challenges that come with owning a prefabricated home, such as finding a suitable location, navigating local regulations, and meeting the minimum space requirements, which the Apple Cabins fall short of.
