The end of support for Windows 10: explore upgrade options and costs.
Windows 10 Support Extension Option: What Is It?
Windows 10 support has an expiration date: October 14, 2025. After that date, the system will stop receiving security updates, exposing users to greater risks from online threats. However, Microsoft has decided to offer a solution that was previously only available to businesses: Extended Security Updates (ESU), allowing users to pay to continue updating their system, albeit for a limited time.
How Much Will ESUs for Windows 10 Cost?
The price of the ESU program for businesses is $61 annually, which raised expectations that the same price would apply to non-corporate users. However, Microsoft has reduced the cost for individual users: they can access extended updates for a one-time payment of $30, but this access will only be available for one year. This means there will be no option to renew the support program once this period ends.
Migration to Windows 11: Obstacles and Requirements
Microsoft’s message is clear: they want users to switch to Windows 11. However, this transition may be challenging for many due to the strict hardware requirements of the new operating system. It’s not just about adding more RAM, but having a compatible processor and a TPM 2.0 module, something not all devices have.
