Bright comet visible in sky this month: last chance to view before it vanishes for a thousand years
This year has been marked by the appearance of comets in the sky. Following the interstellar object 3I/ATLAS, Comet Lemmon (C/2025 A6) is now visible, expected to shine brightest on October 21. Amateur astronomers were first able to detect Lemmon in January, with the comet’s visibility increasing as it approaches its closest point to Earth at 90 million kilometers. Lemmon’s current orbital period is around 1,350 years, with this year’s passage shortening it to about 1,150 years. The comet can be seen at dawn currently, but its trajectory will allow for nighttime viewing as well. With its bright and active tail, Lemmon is predicted to be a beautiful sight in the night sky for the following weeks.
