Another Arrest for Death Threats Against Election Officials in the USA
A man from Colorado appeared in court on Monday after being arrested for threatening election officials, judges, and federal agencies such as the CIA, ATF, and FBI, according to the DOJ. Teak Brockbank, a 45-year-old from Cortez, Colorado, made threats on right-wing social media platforms Gab and Rumble. Brockbank posted his threats between September 2021 and August 2022 and was arrested last Friday. The investigation was led by the FBI’s Denver Office and the Department of Justice’s Election Threats Task Force.
### Danger to Democracy
“Violent threats are a danger to democracy and the arrests and charges announced today make it clear that the Department of Justice will ensure that those who make them are held accountable for their actions,” said Attorney General Merrick B. Garland. Public servants must be able to do their job without fear. Brockbank could face up to five years in prison.
