Using filtered data to visualize the foldable iPhone.
In my opinion – not very popular indeed – the foldable iPhone will arrive much sooner than the development of the, which currently sleeps on some desk. I confidently state that the foldable iPhone will arrive next year. Rumors about the, which is supposed to precede it to set the tone, are getting stronger and more frequent. The same goes for the rumors about the foldable iPhone that will come after.
, an analyst we follow and quote for the latest iPhone releases, has a lot to say about Apple’s first foldable iPhone. Nothing is confirmed, of course, until Apple executives announce it. But the data and rumors already allow us to think about how it will be.
Kuo starts with what he believes will be the price of a foldable iPhone, which could be between $2,000 and $2,500. It may seem exorbitant, but I remind you that the and the start at $1,800 and, unless you find a deal, you will likely end up spending more than $2,000 because you will want at least 256 GB of storage instead of the 128 GB they come with, which costs $100 more.
Inside
Kuo then talks about the hardware. The foldable iPhone supposedly would be a device more like a book than a phone with a cover. The inner screen could be around 7.8 inches, and the outer one would be 5.5 inches, much smaller than Samsung’s, but it could also be wider, making the cover screen a bit easier to use. (I already complained that the screen of the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 is too narrow). It could measure between 4 and 4.8 mm when open, maybe thanks to the foundation of the iPhone 17 Air.
Also, the iPhone Touch ID could make a comeback, as a side button, similar to the way the Z Fold 6 and the recently released allow you to bypass the lock screen with just a touch. Kuo adds that there might not be Face ID due to “internal space and thickness limitations”. The camera will have a dual lens, which sounds like it will be only one front camera, but I prefer it over the interior camera for video calls, like in Samsung’s devices.
And Kuo says that the final specifications “will not be revealed” until the second quarter of this year. The project will be launched for the third quarter, and production will start by the end of this year. Plans for the second-generation foldable iPhone are also scheduled for mass production in 2027. Exciting times for iPhone fans, especially if you feel envious of everything happening in the Android field.
We are expecting to see the iPhone 17 Air this year. The thin iPhone that has been rumored so much will make its debut alongside the rest of the iPhone 17 family in the fall of the northern hemisphere. It is expected to be 5.5 mm thick, paving the way for any foldable iPhone they have prepared for us.
