3I/ATLAS and the Totally Invisible Life
In July 2025, astronomers observed a mysterious object, 3I/ATLAS, moving through the Solar System with unusual characteristics. The object’s composition and behavior hinted at the possibility of divergent life forms, challenging traditional ideas of what it means to be alive. The Harvard hypothesis suggests that life may not be limited to carbon-based organisms, opening up the possibility of alternative chemistries that could thrive in extreme environments. While there is no direct evidence of life on 3I/ATLAS, its existence raises questions about the diversity of life in the universe and the limitations of our current understanding.
