Google is testing a new feature that could revolutionize the way we use our devices. The company is working on a native desktop mode for Android that, when connected to a monitor, transforms your smartphone into a full-fledged desktop computer. While Samsung has a similar feature with DeX, Google’s version aims to reach a wider audience without being limited to specific models or brands.
How the new Android desktop works
The desktop mode is activated by connecting your phone to an external screen using a USB-C to HDMI cable. The interface is redesigned to include a taskbar, app drawer, floating windows, keyboard and mouse support, and real multitasking. This setup allows users to manage everything from their mobile phone, eliminating the need for a separate laptop or complex sync processes.
