The Coffee Mistake That Might Be Holding You Back from a Longer Life

Coffee and longevity: a real connection?

For years, coffee was seen as a health risk. However, recent research has changed that perception: drinking coffee might actually be linked to a longer life. But it’s not just about the coffee itself. The way you take your coffee can make all the difference between a healthy habit and a not-so-healthy one.

The real enemy lies in what you add

But not everything goes. The study also looked into the effects of common add-ons like sugar, cream, or whole milk. And the findings were crystal clear: even small amounts of sugar or milk can negate the benefits of coffee.

According to epidemiologist Bingjie Zhou, previous research had overlooked these nuances. Now we know that the best way to enjoy coffee is the simplest way: black, with no extras.

What about decaf?

Another key finding was that decaffeinated coffee doesn’t offer the same protective advantages. It seems that caffeine, along with other compounds, is the magic formula. Caffeinated energy drinks or caffeine-free alternatives just don’t measure up.
