Tesla to address allegations of false advertising regarding ‘fully autonomous driving’ in California: report.

A Complaint filed by the California Department of Motor Vehicles that Tesla has misled consumers with the naming of its Full Self-Driving (FSD) features and Autopilot will be allowed to move forward, according to a report on Monday.

Tesla had previously defended the use of the term, now known as “Fully Autonomous (Supervised) Driving”, as . But an administrative judge ruled that California DMV’s complaint could proceed on Monday, according to Bloomberg.

Federal investigations into FSD technology
The decision comes as Tesla faces federal investigations into FSD technology, which is often blamed when Tesla vehicles are involved in accidents. Officially, Tesla acknowledges that FSD does not allow the average user to completely ignore the road, something the average person would likely understand as fully autonomous vehicle.

CEO Elon Musk’s predictions
But CEO Elon Musk has long been predicting that FSD will enable completely autonomous transportation. And as recently as last week, he touted the latest version suggesting it may be even more powerful than the name sounds.

“FSD 12.4.1 is rolling out today to Tesla employees,” Musk tweeted. . “If it goes well, a limited number of external customers will receive it this weekend. amount of changes in this build. Arguably should be called v13, but sticking with 12.”

Musk even claimed that people will soon be able to use FSD for a year before a human needs to intervene, though he included a very important caveat.

“Two other versions are in early testing stages: 12.5 and 12.6, which might be called v14 and v15. We are starting to get to the point where, once known issues are resolved, it will be necessary to drive for over a year to get even one intervention.” Musk wrote.

Tesla did not immediately respond to questions emailed on Monday afternoon.
