Using a simple question to artificial intelligence as a pathway to business success
Jackson Greathouse Fall, an American designer, set out to explore the limits of artificial intelligence (AI) in the business world. With just $100 and a question directed at the ChatGPT chatbot from OpenAI, he started an experiment to see how far he could go. He posted on his X account (formerly Twitter): “I gave GPT-4 a budget of $100 and told it to make as much money as possible. I’m following its recommendations to the letter.” What started as a test quickly turned into a lesson on how AI can revolutionize entrepreneurship.
### The Start of “Green Gadget Guru”
Greathouse’s adventure started with the question: “How can I multiply $100 quickly and legally?” The AI suggested creating “Green Gadget Guru,” an online store specializing in sustainable products, a growing market. The artificial intelligence not only came up with the concept but also provided detailed instructions to bring the business to life, from the store name to the website design.
I gave GPT-4 a budget of $100 and told it to make as much money as possible.
I’m acting as its human liaison, buying anything it says to.
Do you think it’ll be able to make smart investments and build an online business?

ChatGPT offered a step-by-step guide on creating the website, providing codes and design suggestions for the page. Additionally, it recommended investing in social media advertising to quickly attract consumer attention, which was essential for building a functional business in a short amount of time.
### The Contribution of DALL-E in Brand Image Creation
To complete the project, Greathouse turned to DALL-E, another tool from OpenAI, to design the logo for Green Gadget Guru. With the website and brand ready, the business was launched in the market in less than 24 hours, attracting the attention of potential investors. In the first offer, Greathouse received $100 for 25% of the company, but soon much more attractive offers came in: he received proposals of up to $500 for just 2% of the company, valuing the business at $25,000.
#### Impact and Results of the Experiment
Despite the initial investment of only $100, Greathouse managed to turn his idea into a project valued at thousands of dollars in a matter of days, with a significant presence on social media that caught the eye of interested investors. However, the experiment concluded on March 16, 2023, and the Green Gadget Guru website became inactive shortly after, as it was never designed to actually function as a product store.
### Reflection on Artificial Intelligence as an Entrepreneurship Tool
Although Green Gadget Guru was an experiment, Greathouse Fall’s experience demonstrates the potential of AI as a powerful tool for entrepreneurs. ChatGPT does not replace knowledge or guarantee business success, but it can be a valuable source of ideas and technical guidance. Artificial intelligence has shown that when used strategically, it can be a valuable tool for entrepreneurs, reducing barriers to entry and simplifying processes for those looking to start a business from scratch.
This experiment also highlights the power of AI to guide entrepreneurs in areas such as selecting a market niche, designing marketing strategies, and creating a brand identity. Ultimately, Greathouse proved that artificial intelligence has the potential to transform the business world by offering quick and creative solutions, opening opportunities for those willing to explore its possibilities.
