41% of global employers plan to reduce staff by 2030 due to AI

The World Economic Forum has released its biennial survey on what employers expect for the future of their businesses, with a focus on generative artificial intelligence. While most (77%) plan to train their existing staff to work with AI, 41% anticipate reducing the number of employees due to automation. The survey includes 1,000 employers worldwide, representing over 14 million workers in 22 industries. Employers believe many workers lack the necessary skills as technology evolves. The rise of generative AI is expected to impact job roles like graphic designers and legal secretaries. Employers emphasize the importance of health and well-being to attract employees. Despite advancements in AI, the survey predicts a net growth in jobs created over the next five years. The report highlights the potential for humans using technology to become more productive in the future.
