George King scales a Danish hotel and jumps into the void with a parachute

George King, known for his daring ropeless and safety equipment-free climbs, once again made headlines with a feat that mixes vertigo, illegality, and spectacle. His goal: to climb to the top of the Radisson Blu hotel in Copenhagen and parachute jump from the roof.

In 2021, he had already attempted the same action but was forced to give up when the rooftop ventilation grills prevented him from completing the jump. Four years later, he decided to return and this time he succeeded.

The climb and the jump

The British man ascended the facade of the Danish skyscraper without using harnesses or lifelines, a style known as free solo climbing. Once at the top, he leaped into the void with a parachute, completing the pending jump. Witnesses captured the moment when the parachute opened over the Danish capital before King landed in a nearby area.

Legal consequences

After the jump, Danish police arrested him and imposed a fine. Local authorities reminded that both unauthorized building climbs and base jumps are prohibited without special permits, as they put both the performer and others at risk. In addition to the legal implications, it is important to highlight the danger of his actions.

This is not the first time King has faced sanctions: in 2019, he served a jail sentence in the UK for climbing without permission the London skyscraper The Shard.
