Google Chrome is conceding and aiming to offer us an enhanced browsing experience: extensions are on the way
Extensions on Chrome for Android: getting closer
Although there are browsers on the Play Store that already allow the installation of extensions, Chrome, the most popular browser on Android, has not yet taken that step. However, Google is in full development of a version of Chrome that will finally include this function, a move that aims to improve the mobile experience and bring it closer to the desktop version.
Development for ChromeOS and Android
Google is not enabling extensions by chance, but as part of a larger change that affects both ChromeOS and Android. In June, the company confirmed that both platforms will start sharing more elements, including the Chrome browser. This change implies that the versions of Chrome for Android and ChromeOS will have more and more in common, making extensions now make sense on both platforms.
What we can expect
Although there is still work to be done before extensions are fully implemented in Chrome for Android, everything indicates that we won’t have to wait long to enjoy them. In the future, it will be possible to install extensions directly from the browser on Android, improving the browsing experience and allowing users to access the same functionalities they already enjoy on their computers.
