Hackers in Cerebral Valley Make Affordable Smart Glasses for $20
A team of five members recently created a pair of $20 smart glasses called Open Glass during a 36-hour hackathon. These glasses connect what you see and hear to an AI chatbot, similar to Meta’s Llama 3.
Revolutionizing Smart Glasses
Despite a slight error in the demonstration, the team won first prize at the hackathon. Open Glass offers developers a relatively inexpensive kit to customize the features they want, making smart glasses more accessible and hackable.
Privacy and Innovation
While concerns about privacy and costs exist, the open-source community has the potential to innovate on the idea of smart glasses in a personal way. Open Glass hopes to give access to this technology to spark greater innovation in the space.
