It’s not AI, it’s ‘Apple’s intelligence’

Apple is expected to announce updates to the iPhone, iPad, and Mac at its upcoming Worldwide Developers Conference. However, the tech giant will not be calling its artificial intelligence system by the usual name. Instead, reports suggest that it will be known as “Apple Intelligence” and will be integrated into the new versions of the operating systems for Apple devices.

Separation of AI Tools

Apple Intelligence, or AI for short, is said to be separate from the chatbot similar to ChatGPT that Apple is working on in collaboration with OpenAI. Apple’s internal AI tools will assist in tasks like drafting messages, editing photos, and summarizing texts. Some of these functions will be performed on the device itself, while others will rely on cloud-based computing depending on the complexity of the task.

Challenges in AI Development

While the name Apple Intelligence may seem straightforward, Apple is known for its unique branding of technology. However, the company may face challenges in convincing users that its AI technology offers a competitive edge. A recent report pointed out that Apple has been falling behind in the AI race, with the AI team struggling to keep up with innovation within the company.

With a renewed focus on AI at this year’s WWDC, Apple is aiming to rejuvenate its brand by showcasing its advancements in AI technology after a series of underwhelming releases in recent years.
