Controversy in the United Kingdom: Images of Trump and Epstein at Windsor Castle

The three-day State visit of Donald Trump to the United Kingdom began with an unexpected incident. On Tuesday night, the British group Led by Donkeys projected images of the American president onto a tower at Windsor Castle alongside portraits of Jeffrey Epstein, the convicted financier who died in prison in 2019.

Among the projections were Trump’s mugshot from one of his legal processes, newspaper clippings, and an image where he appeared. The montage was displayed for several minutes at one of the official residences of the British royal family, just before the reception that King Charles III and Camilla will host for the American president and his wife Melania on Wednesday.

Arrests and Police Response

Thames Valley Police reported that four people were arrested on suspicion of “malicious communications” following the action. According to police spokesperson Felicity Parker, the officers “quickly stopped the projection” and secured the area around the castle. The incident, which links Trump to the disgraced financier through their past friendship, has complicated the president’s international agenda at a time marked by protests and diplomatic scrutiny.

Protests in London and Windsor

The political atmosphere further escalated following the dismissal of the British ambassador in Washington, Peter Mandelson, over his ties to Epstein. Meanwhile, dozens of protesters gathered in Windsor to oppose the president’s presence, with thousands expected to protest in London on Wednesday. Trump and the first lady arrived at Stansted Airport on Tuesday night, where they were welcomed by British Foreign Secretary Yvette Cooper before their scheduled meetings with the Prince of Wales and the King and Queen in Windsor.
