Samsung joins forces with tech giants for a breakthrough that will change AI: find out what they are preparing
AI, a key priority for Samsung
Samsung has made it clear on more than one occasion that artificial intelligence is one of its main development focuses. The recent launch of the Galaxy S24 series, equipped with Galaxy AI, was a demonstration of its commitment to this technology. From easy search with Circle to Search to real-time translation, Samsung’s AI has significantly enhanced the functionality of its devices, making them more intuitive and powerful.
Now, the company is ready to take another important step in the field of AI. Samsung has announced its partnership with three major companies: ADTechnology, ARM, and Rebellions. This collaboration aims to develop a CPU chiplet platform with advanced AI/ML capabilities, primarily targeted towards cloud computing, data centers, and high-performance computing (HPC) applications.
The technology behind the new chip
The alliance between Samsung, ADTechnology, ARM, and Rebellions aims to integrate the best features of each company. Rebellions will contribute its REBEL AI accelerator, while ADTechnology will utilize ARM’s Neoverse Compute Subsystems (CSS) V3 technology to design the computing chiplet. Samsung will manufacture these chips using its advanced 2nm GAA technology, which will offer unparalleled performance and two to three times higher energy efficiency than current standards.
This development will also include high-bandwidth memory (HBM) to increase processing speed and ensure the chip can handle more intense workloads, crucial for applications like generative artificial intelligence (GenAI).
What we can expect from this collaboration
With this platform, Samsung and its partners aim to set a new standard in AI chip manufacturing. It is expected that these new chips will not only enhance performance in mobile devices but also play a key role in large-scale technological infrastructures such as data centers and cloud solutions.
This advancement is part of ARM’s Total Design program, introduced in 2023 to create a collaboration ecosystem among partners to accelerate the development of custom chips.
