T-Mobile officially acquires Mint Mobile in $1.35 billion deal.

T-Mobile has officially finalized its acquisition of Mint Mobile, according to a press release. The deal was first announced in March 2023 and has now received regulatory approval from the FCC. As part of the agreement, T-Mobile has committed to maintaining Mint’s $15 per month offer for both new and existing customers. T-Mobile acquired Mint from Ka’ena Corporation, which also owns Ultra Mobile and Plum. Ryan Reynolds, who owns 25% of Mint, is expected to receive at least $300 million from the deal.

Ryan Reynolds, known for his humorous ad campaigns with Mint, joked about “Gary in Finance” while announcing the final agreement. He praised Mint’s team for their dedication to customer value and quick decision-making. T-Mobile also announced expanded roaming in Mexico and Canada, as well as upcoming T-Mobile features for Mint customers.

Critics of the deal expressed concerns about competition loss, but supporters noted Mint’s reliance on T-Mobile’s infrastructure for service provision.
