An employee from Google reportedly accessed private videos from Nintendo and disclosed content without authorization.
Recently, an internal database of Google was obtained containing six years of possible privacy violations and security issues. Among the findings was an employee who used their access to view a private YouTube video uploaded by and leaked the details online. On June 3, it was reported that a copy of a large database created by Google containing thousands of employee reports documenting various security and privacy issues had been received. The database tracked information from 2013 to 2018 and included incidents such as Google accidentally recording children, unknowingly storing license plates through Google Street View, and exposing Google Docs and Drive files publicly.
### How a 2017 Yoshi game was leaked
In 2017, a contractor with administrator access downloaded and viewed an unreleased trailer of a Yoshi game. The contractor shared the trailer screenshot with a friend, who then posted it on Reddit, where it was discovered by another Google employee. The incident was reported internally and deemed as “unintentional.” The leaked game was later named and released on the Switch in 2019.
A statement from Google provided to 404 Media acknowledged the documented issues within the database, stating that most of the flagged issues were resolved quickly. However, the company’s struggles in managing information and private content securely were highlighted, raising concerns about a major technology company’s ability to handle data effectively.
